London, UK – Jumio, Inc., the fast growing online and mobile credentials management company, today announced that leading tenant referencing company Landlord Referencing has implemented Jumio’s Netverify® technology into its tenant referencing platform to seamlessly validate IDs of potential tenants.
The technology benefit to Landlord Referencing comes at a time when verifying a tenant’s identity in the UK has never been more important.
New legislation,1 that came into effect on 1st December 2014, dictates that migrant workers cannot take residence in a privately let property without possessing relevant visas or work permits. By not verifying a tenant’s identity, landlords could face fines of £3,000.
Jumio’s Netverify replaces a manual process whereby landlords submit identity documents to the Landlord Referencing platform for manual review. Now documents are not only scanned and captured in real time using Jumio’s Netverify, but the document is automatically authenticated to ensure that it is bonafide and unmanipulated. This not only produces a higher quality authentication than traditional methods, it also greatly reduces the workload on landlords and Landlord Referencing. Netverify authenticates ID documents issued by over 120 countries worldwide. For Landlord Referencing, the new technology will make the tenancy referencing process quicker and more efficient for the tenant and landlord alike.
“Netverify is a well established ID authentication technology that is transforming business processes across a range of industries. The team at Landlord Referencing is innovating and applying new technologies and processes to their industry and we are pleased to be supporting them, their landlords and ultimately the tenants,” said David Pope, Director of Marketing EMEA at Jumio
Paul Routledge, CEO at Landlord Referencing added, “Tenant referencing is often seen as a laborious task and with additional legislation this has compounded the process, but it is exceptionally important for landlords and tenants and is done for a reason. What we needed was a solution which not only helped improve the accuracy of the referencing process but also improved the user experience. Jumio’s Netverify performs the ID verification within seconds, cutting out the manual document checks that are usually required”.
